“Light of my life”
You might not know Shakespear’s quote “thus hath the candle singd the moath. O these diliberate fools!” but I’m sure you’ve heard it’s adaptation “like a moth to a flame.” Oh how it can be so hard to resist something (or someone) you’re drawn to even when it leads to your ultimate demise.
I feel like when you’re in your early 20’s you all have that one friend that you tell them over and over again that they shouldn’t go back to someone toxic, but low and behold they always do. I wonder if moths are like that to other moths? Like “look Staci, that light over there looks really mesmerizing, and I know want to get a little closer, but don’t do it. It’s going to kill you; like seriously kill you.” But Staci just doesn’t want to listen so off they fly into their death and all the other moths just look away because the lost yet another one.

“Keep yo’ head up” guys! We may be entering our third year of this damn pandemic that has mentally altered us all and made time seem fluid, but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy it right? (internal screams because I don’t want to scare my neighbors).
Sea stars are so cool, like they’re out there just walking around with those tiny little tube feet. And they really let know how to let shit go. Some jerk takes their arm? No sweat, they’ll just grow another one! They are also efficient as hell, like their stomach comes out of their mouth to eat it’s prey, digests it, then goes back in.
Moon Jellyfish get their name from their translucent bell-shape that looks like a full moon. When you see their short wispy tentacles and four purple glowing circles, you know you’ve found the right ones. Will you get stung? Yes. But they are such a good time a minor rash is worth getting close to them, much like some people you may know.

Bees are cute and necessary, and I’m sure some snakes are too. I was stung in the ear by a bee when I was a kid and I’ve been smitten ever since. Bring on those pollinators! Did you know they scent mark flowers and hibernate underground? Also fun fact, I have one of these bumblebees (and another) tattooed on my arm with a Queen Ann’s lace wildflower. Like I love bees!
Western Hognose Snakes are drama queens and will play dead when they sense danger. I’m talking roll on their backs, lie still, defecate, release a musky smell, and stick their tongue out. If that’s not an overreaction I don’t know what is. But I’m here for it cuz my social anxiety is next level. Not playing dead and defecating next level, more of full body sweat and abort mission, must get out of here, level.

This little miracle plant is out there getting doused with weed killer every day, but it just keeps growing knowing its own worth some day will be appreciated.
Can you eat it to improve digestion? You bet. Drink it as a tea to sooth coughing and bronchitis? Of course. Rub it on your body to soothe burns, inflamed skin, insect bites, and dermatitis? Hot damn, don’t mind if I do!
Would a rose by any other name smell as sweet? Would we buy them on the most romantic day of the year if they were called weeds? I don’t think so. But plantains are a weed that might just be the next new “it thing” to show someone you truly care about them.

“Kill ‘em with kindness?” Don’t mind if I do. Man do I love plants (duh), but keeping them alive is a whole other story. Why do I have multiple snake and monstera plants and not much else? Because they are the only ones that can handle all my love.
That pandemic plant collection was as contagious as the virus and since a lot of people kill their plants with too much water, I thought it would be very relatable!
The ever popular Perle Avon Nurnberg Echeveria succulent stands no chance of thriving when it comes to me smothering my plants with water. And that poor bunny ear cactus can’t hop away from the flood of water coming it’s way. Water only once a month? Not a chance! How will they know I love them if I don’t give them water? But hold up, that Tillandsia needs water once a week? Boy don’t tease me with that, give me a room full!

I’m just “searchin’ for validation” guys…like every damn day. No matter how much you fight it, the struggle of internal and external validation is a continuous battle.
