Burmese pythons [Python molurus bivittatus] are nonvenomous constrictors that have become invasive species in the Everglades of Florida. Burmese pythons are one of the largest snakes in the world growing on average to 6-9 feet (but can reach 26 feet). They are often found near water as they are semi-aquatic, but they also make great tree climbers. Humans and alligators are the only predators to Burmese pythons, however these snakes impact the population of native mammals, birds and reptiles. Labeled as a conditional reptile, you can no longer have these pythons as pets.
